About the PRODUCER
Since 1989 when he first came in contact with broadcasting at radio Benue II FM, Cally Terwase Ikpe has not looked back, especially after been influenced greatly by the success and achievements of the duo of David Radigan and Tony Williams of Capital Radio and Rockers FM, London.
Born in Gboko, Benue state in 1968, Cally was educated at Egbadu Primary school, Agenebode, Edo state. He later moved on to Stella Maris College, okitipupa, Ondo state and obtained his ‘O` Levels and eventually capped it with a first degree in English Language from the Lagos State University.
However, Cally’s relocation to Lagos in the early 90’s availed him the much needed opportunity and platform to expand his horizon in the broadcast terrain when he worked with an independent television producer, James Ime on the project, News Trends.
Like an eagle waiting to soar to greater heights, his big break finally came in 1992, when his broadcasting prowess led to his being invited by Jennifer Ejembi Emdien, to anchor super sounds, which was about the only music programme on NTA 2 Channel 5 then.
And like a true professional, Cally did not disappoint his employer, fans and music buffs till he finally left the programme in 1994.
And still marching on like a Trojan horse, restlessly creative Cally debuted with Live Beats in 1995 on same station as its presenter cum co-producer. And in his bid to introduce new vistas, refocus, re-direct and repackage music programmes on television, Cally re christened his wave-making programme, Da New Live Beats and it is currently being syndicated on various networks across the nation and beyond our shores.
On the home front, amiable Cally who has an unbridled passion for the Nigerian music industry is happily married to pretty Tina and together they are blessed with three lovely children Isabella, Caesar, and Anabel.
A viewer’s delight, Cally has been bringing good music, which William Shakespeare, describes as the food of love to different homes and places non stop for ten years now and there seems to be no stopping him. Little wonder his new improved and repositioned Da New Live Beats, is unarguably Nigeria’s longest running music programme on television.
Boyish looking Cally has won several awards, attended many music awards, seminars, symposia and concerts within and outside the shire of Nigeria. He is also a member of numerous professional and entertainment bodies. Also, as a notable music presenter, he has acted in the past and still acts s a consultant adviser to several music Nigerian musicians and record labels and companies.
Mr. Cally Ikpe likes relaxing by spending quality time with his family. |
